Obligatory Seriousness About A Bunch of Stuff
I should be in bed sleeping, but the muses call and I obey
…over the hills and far away.
The second post about the ancestors (see previous post) got delayed for no good reason, but I’ll get to it Real Soon Now. Definitely before the convention.
Everybody seems to be up in arms about Mike Lee’s land sale bill, which at first glance seems pretty innocuous, but he’s managed the rare feat of getting the insane left and the anti-immigration wing of the new GOP riled up at him. My county commissioner went off on it last night at the NSSAB meeting and got called out by a couple of board members for his incendiary language, and now that I’ve had time to look at it and consider how it’s being wedged into the Big Beautiful Bill, I’m none too thrilled about it either. I don’t think it’ll survive the process; either it’s going to be smothered in the Senate or rejected by the House.
If nothing else, the current stage of the Iran War (which has been mostly cold but occasionally hot since 1979) has exposed a bunch of “conservative” pundits & influencers as being sellouts to the Qataris or other slime. I personally think the number of people in the anti-Semitic Christian crowd overestimate just how much clout they have, but at the same time it doesn’t look like Trump is going to send in the Airborne and the Marines to topple the mullahs when the Israelis and Iranian people seem inclined to take care of business for us.
Regarding the Russo-Ukrainian War, I honestly don’t know what to think. There’s a lot of FUD being sprayed around by the Russians, Chinese, NAFO crazies, Euros, but as far as I can tell from the OSINT maps the situation still looks like the Western Front in WW1 except with drones, jet fighters, missiles and whatnot getting blown into scrap or (briefly) aerial kinetic sculptures. Trump isn’t going to send American troops into Ukraine and I don’t think our NATO allies have the balls to do it either, but on the other hand, the Russians’ hideous ineptitude WRT logistics and medical support may cause them to run out of meatbags before the Ukrainians do. I guess we’ll see.
I hear the Worldcon is in Seattle this year. Now I have two reasons to stay away from a city that looks like it’s becoming Portland 2.0.
The USAID money spigot being dismantled appears to be having some interesting effects on the Democratic party along with their consistent support of the short side of 80/20 social issues like the castration & mutilation of children, euphemistically referred to as “gender affirming care”, and expelling illegal immigrants, especially the violent criminal sort. Midterms may not be as close as people think, but there’s still time for the GOP to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I think Putin's war will be ending soon, and Putin, in the end, will have gained nothing but the filling of a bunch of grave. He has a serious skilled labor shortage. Most of that could be solved if he could bring a lot of his Cargo 200 back to life. Rottsa Ruck there.
The biggest factor for Putin is what is going on in Iran at present. He has a defense treaty with them, adn he is not going to be able to simply blow them off if he wants to keep any influence in the middle east. It's huge dilemma for him. By putting Putin on those horns, he has helped Ukraine immensely.
Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 tell a story about Iran, Russia and number of others who will attempt to invade and destroy Israel. Bible prophecy has always been fulfilled in detail. I'm not saying what is going on now is the predicted battle, but I am confident it s the run up to the gathering the coalition that will carry out the attempted invasion.
